We're on our annual trek to the Panhandle of Florida for our family Summer vacation. We head to Destin for two weeks-ish in June right after school is out to kick off a great Summer break. Sometimes we take side trips but this year we're just relaxing on the beach, taking in the fun activities and eating lots of fresh seafood.
We've already been to The Track, a place across the street from where we stay that has go-cart tracks, mini-golf, bumper cars and bumper boats which are always a guaranteed soaking for the riders.
The boys are trying to talk us into going to Big Kahuna this year. It's a huge waterpark here in Destin with tons of fun waterslides but it's not an easy sell for us. For one, they've already got the beach and the pool to play in so why would we want to PAY to do more water adventures. For another, I always feel like a drowned rat when we get out of there. I mean water-logged is an understatement. Wugh. And lastly, but certainly not least, it's expensive! I mean hel-lo its waterslides and lazy rivers not the Magic Kingdom for cryin' out loud! When we do get persuaded to go we only buy a 1/2 day pass at the end of the day and it STILL seems really pricey. The boys know they have to be REALLY good to con us into Big Kahuna. So far we're still holding out but we may go one day this week since Aunt Carla is here now with us too. Misery loves company ya know.
We've also been over to another condo property that we have access to for playing in their pool. They don't just have your basic pool...it's all fancified there with the infinity pool edge that you can walk right out into, lots of fun water fountains plus beautiful landscaping and neat islands to play around in the pool. Its nice to head over there for a couple of days when we start getting chafed by too much sand in our shorts and kick back with a little different kind of pool enjoyment.
By now you'd think that we spend alot of time in the water when we're and Florida...and you'd be right. By the time we leave here every year we are pooled-out and can go a few weeks at home without hitting anybody we know up with a pool for a dip in the hot summer sun.
Normally with this post I'd cook up a new photo banner for the Summer with a pic that we've taken down here but I don't seem to have Photoshop on my computer. I've been resizing and cropping pics to have printed in Google's Picasa program....and it's ok.....just not anything that I can do any kind of photo work on beyond basic capabilities. So it will have to wait until next week when we get home. Until then it's off to the Beach for us! Or the pool....or the other pool.....or Big Kahuna.....*glug glug glug*
