Our fabulous youngest son turned 7 on 4th of July. I love this pic of him because it shows his top teeth FINALLY growing in, just as they are on his birthday. It's been since Easter since he's had any front teeth and it has taken what seems like a really long time for the new teeth to break through his gums but now that they have they are dropping in FAST.
He is such an adventure-loving boy so for his birthday we took the boat out on the lake to have some fun playing in and on the water.
We have a new tube to pull behind the boat that we got from a friend who no longer wanted it. It is a HUGE tube that would easily hold 3-4 kids at one time. Definitely not your 'standard' tube but our two boys had such a blast riding on it! Steven even decided to go out and ride on it for a bit with the kids after I told him I was brave enough to drive the boat in circles. Usually I'm not a big fan of driving the boat. It feels foreign to me and I'm not familiar enough with the lake to be confident in where I'm going but we were in a wide open spot with no obstacles around so I gave it a go for a bit to let Steven have some fun with the kids.
We did take some breaks to do some swimming and we also brought a pair of trainer waterskis for kids so they could both learn how to waterski. Alec didn't feel comfortable enough to give it a go but we are happy to report that Carter popped up on his 2nd try! He didn't stay up long, not even long enough to stand up straight but he was definitely on top of the water and I snagged a pic of him with the biggest grin on his face right before pitching forward for a big faceplant.
A couple tubing pics....
After an afternoon out on the lake we cleaned up and headed to Grandma's house to have a birthday dinner, birthday cookie cake and then watch a fireworks show. There's not usually fireworks on the 4th out where they live but there's an LPGA golf tournament going on over the weekend and one of the corporate sponsors of the tourney sprung for a spectacular fireworks show at sunset. It was so nice to sit on the driveway to watch! The only bummer is that my camera batteries died before I could get any fireworks pics.
